Looking for a cup of coffee on the weekend and some breakfast? Here's where you should go

As a high school student caffeine is a necessity in my daily routine to juggle a rigorous school schedule, starting an internship, and maintaining a social life. Lucky for me Fairfield county has some of the best coffee shops Connecticut has to offer. Here are my favorite coffee shops I’ve discovered from being raised in the area.

Shearwater Coffee Bar

Shearwater Coffee Bar has locations throughout Fairfield county including Fairfield, Westport and Trumbull. This local coffee shop presents a warm, inviting and modern setting that has become one of my favorite study spots. They serve a variety of locally roasted & fresh brewed organic coffee, authentic espresso drinks, cold-brew and nitro coffee. As part of the Fairfield community, Shearwater features local artists in a special gallery as well as local musicians on the weekends.

Candlewood Market

Candlewood Market is a beautiful family owned and operated coffee shop. They have been roasting coffee for 12 years and originated along the shores of Candlewood Lake in Brookfield Connecticut. They are conveniently located in the middle of the Sportsplex campus in Fairfield. They offer a bright, spacious shop that has plenty of comfy places to lounge about in addition to sturdy tables to get work done. My favorite coffee on their menu is the unique Maple Latte.

Wake-Up-Coffee

Wake-Cup-Coffee is the newest coffee shop on this list having opened their doors as of 2020 but is already one of the best. They roast their coffee on site with high quality hand-picked fair trade coffee beans from different places around the world. When you combine this with their signature Bavarian soft pretzel sandwiches and French pastries it's a heavenly combination. They truly bring the flavors of Europe directly to your taste buds.

The Granola Bar of Fairfield

The Granola Bar has four locations across Connecticut including Greenwich, Stamford, Westport, and Fairfield. The first Granola Bar location opened its doors in Westport back in December 2013. It's a great take on a modern diner with an incredible menu that's both healthy and creative. My go to order is their signature Nutella latte along with the Heisenberg breakfast burrito.
