Meet Benny and the Pets

May is National Pet Month and while we celebrate our pets’ everyday, I think it’s only appropriate to acknowledge those who care for our pets when we are not home to do so. While there are many pet sitting services in Fairfield, I have been especially impressed by a brother and sister duo that have taken their love for pets and created a fine little business called Benny And The Pets! This budding enterprise is operated by Ben & Ella Diamond of Greenfield Hill.

Meet The Principal: Jason Bluestein of Burr Elementary School

Almost 5 years ago my family moved from NYC to Fairfield. Prior to the move I did my fair share of investigative research on the schools in Fairfield. Choosing a school was a tough choice to make because Fairfield schools are all outstanding! In the end we fell in love with Greenfield Hill and my son enrolled as a 5th grader at Burr Elementary. That same fall, Jason Bluestein was appointed the new principal at Burr.

I recently had the pleasure of catching up with Jason Bluestein to talk about how Burr Elementary continues to draw families to Greenfield Hill and what they are doing to keep the learning environment stimulating.

Clearing the Air for Smooth Selling

How To Prevent Ice Dams: Tips For Homeowners

Icicles hanging along the eaves of your house may look beautiful, but they spell trouble.

What Are Ice Dams?

Ice dams are walls of ice that typically form at the edge of your roof or gutters when these areas clog up with ice. Ice dams are a pervasive and damaging winter roofing problem caused by poor roof ventilation and a warm attic space. Left untreated, ice dams can cause serious damage to your roof, gutters, paint, insulation, drywall, structure and even contribute to mold. Dams can tear off gutters, loosen shingles, and cause water to back up and pour into your house. When that happens, the results aren't pretty: peeling paint, warped floors, stained and sagging ceilings. Not to mention soggy insulation in the attic!

Use Fresh Cranberries to Make Holiday Candles for Your Home

Candles are typically our go to item for creating a dramatic and moody table for special occasions. Candles are a staple in our lives for a reason—they’re inexpensive, stylish, relaxing and make a fantastic addition to any room of your home. I suggest trying to pick something that you love (a color, a theme, or an item) and streamline your holiday home decor around it. Your holiday decor will appear more thought-out and really pop.
